Many passionate gardeners are eager to restore their landscapes and lawns as soon as the snow melts. However, patience is key while the ground remains frozen and water-saturated. At this stage, different grass varieties are still dormant. Even if your yard gets plenty of sun and warmth, their roots remain short and fragile. Raking too soon can uproot them and damage your lawn. Patience will yield better results in the short, medium, and long term!

If you notice bare patches affected by winter, start planning repair seeding now. That way, as soon as the warmth sets in, you’ll be ready to plant!

Fruit trees have been trending for years! While they require extra care and attention, the joy of harvesting homegrown fruit is well worth the effort.

A rising star in fruit cultivation, the Pawpaw tree (Asimina triloba) has been gaining attention in recent years. This North American fruit tree, increasingly well-suited to our climate, is often called the "Northern Mango" due to its sweet, tropical-like flavor.

In the wild, pawpaws produce fruit irregularly, which is why enthusiasts have worked on developing hardier, more productive cultivars. These trees are naturally resistant to number of diseases.

For successful fruit production, you’ll need to plant at least two different cultivars. They vary in cold resistance (typically Zone 4), fruit size, and ripening period.

Visit us as soon as our outdoor spaces open to check out our selection.

Every year, melting snow reveals the toll winter has taken on ornamental plants. Rodents gnaw on tree trunks and lower branches to survive, and deer often strip bark due to food shortages.

This past February’s heavy snowfall gave small animals unexpected access to normally out-of-reach branches, turning them into an all-you-can-eat buffet!

If a secondary branch has been completely stripped of bark, it will die soon after bud break. The best course of action is to prune it cleanly and precisely.

If the main trunk is affected, unfortunately, there are no simple solutions, and the plant may need to be fully replaced.
Bring clear, detailed photos of any damage, and consult our experts in-store for the best advice!
