Harvest time is here, delighting our taste buds while autumn colors gradually paint the landscape. Come visit our nursery and pick from our beautiful pumpkins and bright seasonal planters! |

Fall is one of the very best times to plant trees and shrubs, especially large-caliper specimens. With cooler temperatures, plants slow their growth and need less water. Plus, in April, the soil is often full of melted snow just as trees wake up from winter dormancy—perfect conditions for healthy, vigorous new shoots. So don’t hesitate to tackle bigger projects late in the season and plant some stunning, mature trees!
Take the opportunity to choose varieties for their spectacular fall colors. Here are a few of our favorites: |

Fall is the time to prepare your spring show!
A wide selection of tulips, daffodils, crocuses, and many more bulbs are now in store.
|
 |
|
For a guaranteed WOW effect with tulips, plant them in small clusters of 10 to15 bulbs (or more). At planting, mix in a natural fertilizer like dried blood or poultry manure. In urban settings, protect your bulbs from hungry squirrels with a simple mesh barrier. |

Perennials such as hostas, astilbes, and irises can grow large and form clumps with empty centers.
To rejuvenate them, you’ll need sharp tools! A square spade or a handsaw works best. Lift the clumps from the soil, divide them with clean cuts, loosen the soil with quality compost, add transplant fertilizer, and replant a few divisions of the mother plant.

In fall, watering is often forgotten. But as long as leaves remain on trees, give them a deep soak once a week. For evergreens, it is essential to do so until the frosts to prevent desiccation if it does not rain regularly. |
