Product Information

Tip : If you have two small trees, you can set a coated ball trap in each tree and set the bait halfway between the two trees. Thus, the apple maggot will be attracted by the bait and will try to go and lay eggs in the biggest apple of the tree, which will be the plastic apple. It will stick there and die.

Reuse : The traps are reusable and each component of Bioprotec Pom is also sold separately.

Apple maggot life cycle: Adults usually appear in late June or early July. It is under the skin of the fruit that we find the eggs laid by the females. Then, 3 to 7 days later, hatching occurs and the larvae subsequently feed on the pulp of the fruit. Generally, it is only when the fruit falls to the ground that the larvae, at this time fully developed, emerge from the fruit and burrow into the ground. They can remain dormant there all winter and persist in the soil for several years as pupae. Then the life cycle begins again. Reference: Canadian Food Inspection Agency
