Here are some simple tips for identifying scab and powdery mildew:
Scab : Scab first shows up on the leaves as defined brownish-grey spots. Then similar spots appear on the fruit. Scab can also cause crevices to form on the fruit.

White : The white appears on the upper side of the leaf with the appearance of a white, floury down. There is also a folding of the leaves and often red periphery.
